playing in and around nature.

Nature Based submitted this design through PS 139’s school-wide participatory budgeting process. The school overwhelming voted to spend PTA funds on this immersive nature play space. In October 2019 it was completed. Using only reclaimed tree parts, that would have otherwise been chipped into mulch, this muddy and underutilized front space of PS 139 became activated into an interactive movement area. Over 100 native hardy viburnum, rhus, and sambucus were planted. In time, a jungle of exploration will grow around this engaging Nature Based play area.
