PS 32 is an elementary school located a block away from the Gowanus Canal in Brooklyn. Nature Based served as the environmental educator, designer, builder, and coordinator for the PS 32 school gardens from 2016 to 2023. Nature Based’s curriculum at PS 32 included sustainable urban farming practices such as no-till farming, cover cropping, mushroom cultivation, composting, seed starting, and aquaponics. We have also taught projects focusing on green infrastructure design, stormwater management, hugelkulturs, food justice issues, healthy communities, and urban ecology.
