Nature Based designed and built this custom monolithic raised bed planting system to fit into a nook in the paved schoolyard of PS 34 in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. The planter is built with 12”x12” beams stacked two high giving over 2’ of growing depth in the mounded areas. The space can comfortably fit about one class who can read, learn math, and observe nature while surrounded by native plants and food producing perennials. We installed a cable fence to guide students through two entrances and serve as a trellis for hardy kiwi and grape vines.
